For English readers, here's an explanation of what's happening in Hong Kong:

On June 9, over 1 million Hong Kong people marched against the proposed law amendment for China extradition. There are a few major consequences if the bill is passed:
1. Hong Kong people will be vulnerable to extradition to China, which has the power to make up and impose any crime charges upon us. If that happens, we will likely face underground, non-transparent trials and be unfairly or even inhumanely treated by China, and the Hong Kong Gov will have inadequate power to intervene and help us.
2. Hong Kong's economy will be severely affected. Foreign investors will be afraid of investing in Hong Kong, as China has the power to confiscate their assets if it considers them as criminals (again, they can make up any crime charges).
Yet, after the million-people protest, the Hong Kong Gov completely ignored its citizens' request and still decided to go ahead with the bill's legislation process which will be put forward in a meeting held on Wednesday morning.
Then, Hong Kong people from various sectors, organizations, companies and schools discussed what else we could do to stop the bill from being passed. Many decided to gather around the meeting venue at night on June 11 and stay till 12 in order to prevent the meeting from being held. Some organizations also gathered people to sing, worship and pray. Other protesters plan on joining the gathering on June 12 morning, before the start of the meeting.
However, the police have sent numerous troops to patrol the area and randomly check people's identity card and search their bodies. Such kind of action is not legitimate, as the police has no right to treat citizens as criminals; their purpose is to create fear among citizens so that they will not dare act against the legislation of the bill. Moreover, the police have mostly targeted at teenagers. Even when people spoke up for the teens, the police ignored them and even rudely told them to leave.
We are hoping that we'll be able to fight against the Gov's bill with the united power of Hong Kong people. This is the only way we can save the highly valued freedom that Hong Kong used to have. We desperately need all of your support, please spread this to many more cities and countries. Thank you.
